During my christmas holidays I've been listening to a more of a range of music genres considering which genre I'd want to base my magazine around. The first genre I started listening to was Pop as it's quite popular with everyone I've found. The artist I found and enjoyed listening was Colbie Caillat.
Another genre I began researching was Indie music. One band inparticular which struck a nerve with me, not because of their music but their lyrics. It's quite a popular song I'm sure you've heard of it? More or less the band also.
Another genre I enjoyed researching and one of my favourite's was Rock. This band is very famous within America and England as their lead singer was also apart of a very well known rock band 'Nirvana'
One genre which is most popular with my brother and who gave me quite the little insight within the genre is hip-hop. My favourite artist from the genre has to be Kanye West, this being because even though his mother past away, instead of breaking down he focused all his energy on his music/future.
Another genre; Rap-Rock has been around since the late 90's. One popular act would be the beastie boys. Starting up during 1981 and still current and popular with many people because of their unique style of mixing hip-hop and rock.
Alternative rock is a genre that is usually mixed with bands of the Rock/ Indie genre. A band known for their mixture of indie and alternative rock would be Two Door Cinema Club.
One genre of music, I thought would stand out and be different I researched into as it's quite popular in my culture is Bollywood music. Bollywood music, is most popular in India and Pakistan; basing around the films is where the music usually originate from. They're basically asian versions of musicals, but instead of being performed live produced.
One genre which isn't very popular with this generation would be; Dance. I believe this particular is no longer popular due to the rise of dubstep/techno music. A very popular artist who I personally enjoy listening to are Disclosure a British dance duo.
Country music was quite interesting for me to research upon as I do listen to it, but not as much as other genres. The artist I listen to most from the country genre would have to be Carrie Underwood she gained her fame by audition for season 4 on American Idol.
Folk Rock is another favourite genre of mine with a similar sound to country but with a more upbeat and happy vibe to it, an amazing artist named Ray LaMontagne has taken the genre and turned it into an reggae scene and made the genre even sound even more happier.
